Well we just tried weighing Athena, our malaysian, who is now about 16months old. She is approx 3ft in length, and sadly when weighing is a factor, "we tried" is quite literal in the sense that she is too heavy for our scales It weighs up to 2.5kg and when we placed her on there it read "error"!!!! We will have to borrow my mum's human electric weighing scales instead.

Big blood that Todd!! Oh dear, just to think that in a couple of years we'll have something that big

That is an AWESOME snake.... Why do they get so fat? It would seem to me that being so big would make them sluggish and hard to move.

Well, they are ambush predators so they don't need to move about a lot - they stay burrowed under the substrate and attack their prey as it wanders past They are very lazy snakes.. an adult needs no where near the room that another species of snake of equal size needs, simply due to the fact that they hardly move!!

They are very shy and private snakes, and do better in more private enclosures - Athena's favourite spot is her hide box, which she only just fits in now. To look at her in it you would be amazed that she managed to get in there! But she likes the security of feeling all sides against her.

Bit late on this thread, doh!!!

As Todd mentioned the Blacks are a smaller locality....but remember there are exceptions......in the link below there are two black bloods, the smaller of the two is just over 6ft I believe...Click here

Sorry it is a link to another forum....but thought that is was fitting for this topic....I won't be annoyed if it is removed
