Tips needed...

Has anyone ever trainded for a marathon or walkathon, lol.

My sister and I are doing a walk for breast cancer in November. We are walking 60 miles in 3-days and we are going to start training soon and any advice or tips we can get would be great....I'll hit ya up for donations later, lol.

Good sneakers, stay well hydrated and get some ankle weights....train on ground that is more challenging than the stuff you are going to be walking the 60miles on.

I'm training for the 3 day in Atlanta in October. This is the first time I've done it also. However, I've done the 500 Festival Mini Marathon for the past 7 years. Follow the plan in your training book. Find a walking partner. Keep yourself hydrated - water, gatorade. Walk outside on roads and sidewalks in all types of weather. Are you walking by yourself or are you on a team?

Another thought after walking 2 hours today - go to a good running shoe store. They should spend time looking at how you walk and you should try on many, many different pairs of shoes. Get good socks, if the seams bother you -turn them inside out.

Which 3day are you participating in? I don't know about you but the fund raising scares me more than walking 3 days.

Two more things you might want to check out. Body Glide - you put it anywhere your skin or clothes might rub, it will keep you from getting raw skin and Sport Beans. Sport Beans are made by Jelly Belly and they look like jelly beans but they have carbs, electrolyes and Vitamins B & C. They are easy to carry with you and you just drink some water along with them. Try things out on your training walks. You want to know that what you are wearing, eating, drinking, etc. will not cause you any problems. You don't want to try out anything new when you are at the 3day.
