So very sad...

You know, people tell you every day that looks don't matter - that talent and personality and a good heart matters...

Then they counteract it with something like this:
Olympic girl seen but not heard - CNN.com

They decided a *7-year-old* wasn't cute enough to sing at the Olympics. Someone disagree with me here, but I think ALL 7-year-olds are cute.

Certainly this little girl was. This article has her photo, and she's got these huge wistful eyes, and adorably sweet expression.

The worst part to me is the public reaction. Some seem to think it's okay, and others don't. But always their comments are, "People will think we couldn't find both a cute kid and a good singer."

What?

These are a 7-year-old! Can you imagine what this must be doing to her self esteem? Hearing, even in the "nice" comments that she's not pretty?

And she really is!

I hate to think what both the 7-year-old and 9-year-old are learning from this. It's not the message I would want to teach anyone.

	Yes, I read that article and thought the same thing. But then again I also read that the little girl thought that it was an honor for her country to be in it at all. Maybe a cultural difference? They seem to take there own little parts that they play with great pride for the greater good. Not something I agree with for self asteem for little girls though.Yikes

	I think the photo was of the girl that was lip syncing the song, regardless, that is just gross! An absolute shame, reminds me of all those crazy mothers who put their kids in beauty pageants. Not allowed to be a child, yuck!
