Kids and Photoshop

Let me say again, for emphasis... Augh!
Okay. Sorry.
Here's the deal. If you are 15 and you have bootleg copy of photoshop, you are NOT a graphic designer!
Please don't go around saying, "i'm a grate desiner. i have photoshop and I am THE BEST at it!!! i dont care if u r a professional, im better then u!!!111!!" Argh. Can't you see that no one is taking you seriously? Knowing how to apply premade filters does not make you a photoshop expert - much less a designer.
And PLEASE for the love of all that's good, if you have to advertise yourself as a graphic designer, don't take jobs away from those of us who actually *are*. I don't want to have to be limited to making $3 and hour on a project just because some loony kid in the area will "design a logo" for fifty bucks - and thus becomes my competition. I live off this, you know. And I do a lot more work than just throwing a couple of photos together at 50% opacity and typing "company name" over that.
A real designer does research first. A designer has to get to know the company, get to know the type of graphics that are easily identifiable in that field, get to know what you want to say with your project and who your target audience is and where and how it will be used. A real designer spends time on the details and makes sure your project is adaptable and comprehensive. A real designer completes the project, finding printers, checking proofs, making sure you're getting the best possible result for your money.
A real designer also has bills, and needs to eat.
Having some stupid kid snake that with impossibly low rates because they're living off their parents' money is frustrating and does a real disservice to everyone.
There are some jobs that require you to be certified before giving you a title. You can't just say, "I'm a doctor" and be one. It takes training. I wish the same could be said for this field. I mean you do need to be trained and talented, but more often than not a client doesn't appreciate that. They go for price. And when they get a bad experience, they turn on the real graphic designers. It's annoying.
