I take it you're not a video game player.
Just kidding.Chrono Trigger was an RPG released by Squaresoft for Super Nintendo in 1995. (I was 11 years old at the time.) It was my all time favorite video game ever, hands down. It even ranks over Katamari Damacy in my book - a game which I seriously love. It was truly one of a kind. Great storyline, great gameplay. And it did what no other RPGs at the time were doing - let you attempt to beat the game at virtually any point. You could beat it at the very beginning, at the very end, or any time in between. All you had to do was go and fight Lavos (the ultimate boss). Because of how many different endings you could get - some just by making simple choice - you played the game over and over. And every time was just as good as the first, I swear. ![]() There were several other truly innovative things the game brought to the table, but you may get bored with my rambling, so I won't subject you to my lectures. Suffice to say, it's legend. And anyone who hasn't played it, really needs to. That was one amazing game. Later Square released a sequel, Chrono Cross, for Playstation. Also an amazing game, and a true sequel, rather than a totally different game with the same name the way Final Fantasy was. But still, not the phenomenon that Chrono Trigger was. I'm super excited. This will essentially be a revamp of the original game, but if Square is smart, they'll look at the HUGE sales this game will get, and make another sequel game - hopefully a console game rather than a DS game, though. |

Well, if it makes you feel any better, I miscounted. I was actually 12 that year. *rolls eyes at self* I should have known, because '94 was when I graduated elementary school. I think I still have the little water jug they gave us all with the year on it.
Lacey, how old were you in '95, 8 or 9, right? I'm finally getting to the point where I feel old. Realizing that there's only two years until my 10 year high school reunion is kind of a shock. I feel like it's only been one year - and like it's been thirty all at the same time. So much has happened, but I still feel like a kid pretending to be an adult most of the time. Is that weird? |

Sega?!
I was a total Nintendo girl. Especially when Squaresoft was giving their games exclusively to Nintendo. Once Square moved on to Playstation - so did I - at least in addition to Nintendo. You wouldn't believe all of the systems my brother and I have now. ![]() Okay, Liz, you definitely make me feel younger, now! ![]() |

Ouch. Harsh words, there, man. You act like you know me.
![]() I LOVE video games, and I used to play them quite obsessively. Heh. At least once I stayed up three days straight playing a game. However, now I am old and I have responsibilities. Paying bills, rent, working, taking care of the herps - plus a lot more. I stay pretty busy. You probably actually play way more than I do at this point. I average only a few hours a week - if I play at all! But the games I do play, I'm very passionate about. Especially the games I used to play when I was a kid. SUCH fond memories. Plus, I'm a huge geek. Even if I don't have time to play everything I want to, doesn't mean I can't keep up with what's happening out there. |

EEEEeeee! Okay, I know, it's sad. But every new piece of information I get about this game makes me SO excited. They just released a demo, and it's getting rave reviews. They're basically keeping it as original. Yes!
Phew. Sorry about that brief geek interruption. Reading CT reviews and listening to Chrono Cross music is not a good combination. ![]() |
