Thought you might enjoy the following stories a couple of my k/1 students wrote about our class snake.

When Mustache Pooped
When we went outside we brought Mustache. Then we put her on the mulch. Mustache slithered. She lifted her tail...
then she pooped! It was so so so funny! I had to carry the poop to the trash. It was so so so so gross! I went to the office and got a bag and rubber gloves.

Once there was a snake named Mustache. He lived in a tank in a classroom. The kids loved Mustache and Mustache loved the kids. But he also loved frozen, dead rats as a snack. But one day the class had chicks. Mustache knew this made new class pets. The days passed and on Saturday the chicks had to go and Mustache was the only class pet. And that's the end of Mustache's story.

I was kinda wondering that myself, where they class pets, or "class pets"?

We hatched them and then they went to farmer to raise. We did discuss (not with the kids) how if we didn't find a farm for them they could be cheap feed for awhile. We did have quite a food chain going on. Worm farm - chicks - people or worm farm - chicks - snake - people. We kept everything on different sides of our room.
