Disturbing

Posted 03-07-2010 at 09:52 PM by Dragoness

So out of sheer boredom, I was perusing the sex offender registry to see what kind of creeps are in my neighborhood, and the ones I grew up in, and the ones I have family in.

Found both of my ex-boyfriends parents.

Then I found a web site that is willing to sell your information, including SSN, home address, income, bankruptcy history, home value, lawsuits, previous addresses, criminal history, marriage and divorce records, phone numbers, date and location of birth,...

Fishy dilemma

Okay, I have 2 large Oscars. I have one small 46 gallon tank (they recommend 55 gallons for one Oscar, 75 for two.) They are very overcrowded. They need a bigger home. I think Oscars are like the Red-Ear slider, and Iguanas of the fish world - common as rocks at pet stores, but not the best idea unless you have done a TON of research, and set up your enclosure first. I didn't do that, and right now, on a 3rd floor apartment, I really can't consider a larger tank.
Nobody wants 2 large Oscars....

The Best week in a long time

Posted 01-14-2010 at 06:40 PM by Dragoness

The owners of the boa we rehabbed finally contracted us, requesting the snake's return for next week. It has been ready to go back since October... and we have been trying to get a YES or NO out of them, regarding whether or not they wanted it back (so I could make appropriate arrangements to re-home it if need be). All we were getting were indecisive "maybe"s

"Herp Room" temps are running warm! I have been able to swap out 100 watt heat bulbs for lower wattage...

First non-rant in a while

Posted 01-06-2010 at 12:11 AM by Dragoness

The bookstore I am working at part-time is closing. Balancing both jobs is getting to be a bit hectic, so I really won't mind knocking it down to one full time job (instead of 60 hour weeks). Being the bibliophile that I am, I asked what the plans were for the shelves in the store. Most of the fixtures were being shipped off to other stores, so I didn't have high hopes, but I did score 2 shelves that were free to a good home. Industrial, heavy-duty bookstore shelves. Very sturdy, solid construction....

How was your holiday?

Posted 12-29-2009 at 07:39 PM by Dragoness

Mine sucked. All I got this year was a sinus infection, and my first gray hair, at age 24. Grey had 2 jobs, one at UPS as a seasonal employee, with the strong suggestion he would be staying on after season (right now, he is not employed by UPS). Another at U-haul. We just purchased our non-refundable tickets to go up to Michigan to see my family like we do every winter. We went and saw a movie today (a splurge we don't normally indulge in) and after all of that, U-haul calls to tell him they hired...
