Smile How Tame Is Your Beardie?

    Hey all!
I am curious how tame your bearded dragon is and how long it took to get there?

When I brought Yoshi home she was a baby. She was tame from the very beginning. The very first night she went to sleep in her 40 gallon breeder, she slept on the side of the tank closest to my bed and just kinda fell asleep watching me. It looked like she wanted me to get her out to go to sleep in the bed lol. Also, ever since day one, If I put my arm in the cage she will run up my arm to my shoulder

She is almost 4 years old now and has never been hostile towards me. She will let me clip her nails and she is potty trained to go in the bath tub! One of the best lizards I have ever owned!

I was also blessed with a Bearded Dragon who was very socialized, she has been great from day 1 with me.

Hi, good to hear you have a tractable dragon, and without putting a damper on things, I`d like to ask why you feel the need to trim the claws? If you provide the means (firmly fixed stones, branches to climb on), the lizard will keep them just as long and sharp as they need to be!

Both of mine were tamed hatchlings as well.
A lot of it depends on the breeder.
Those who truly love with the dragons will interact with them from the time that they are hatched and so they grow up not fearing humans.
On the other hand those breeders who only view the dragons as "product" to make money at it, just toss a bit of food and water from time to time produce dragons that are abit on the wild side.
If you put your hands in a tank of babies you can quickly tell what type that they are.
Thats not to say that the wild child type cannot be socialized, it may just take a bit more work.

Stefan both of mine as youngsters had their claws trimmed. Even though they had adequate materials on which to climb those little razor sharp claws were murder on my wife's sensitive skin.
As they got older I no longer needed to trim them.

The iguana is another story entirely!

Our dragon is great. She has never been aggressive and I got her off of someone I know who wasn't paying her enough attention. She took to being handled immediately.
