    Swollen Foot?

Got my hatchling on friday and it looks like one leg is slightly swollen, the skin is duller, more grey then the rest of him. His tail was the same color, and today the skin shed off his tail and is now bright like the rest of him. I am thinking he is shedding and his leg still has the old skin on it? My camra is being a pain, I turn it on it beeps and turns off. I will fool around with it later and see if I can make it work.

So think he is sheding still? I heard a warm soak will help, I am trying to not hold him for a few days until he gets settled, I noticed the foot while watching him wolf down his crickets, he is eating and pooing fine. Still pretty active.

    Re: Swollen Foot?

Give him some warm soaks in warm not hot water, when he comes out of the bath apply a little mineral oil on his foot! Sound like it is what you think, so old shed that didn't come off, this can cause problems if left untreated, it can cut off the circulation to the foot and cause the foot to die. If it doesn't get any better you may need to see a vet, if there is an infection there it can spread up the leg and so on.

Best of luck and keep us posted

    Re: Swollen Foot?

Ok soaked him in a container for a bit, had him drinking water drops off my fingers He is so cute. When in the water the leg looked the same color as the other legs so I think that it's just stuck shed. I will soak him a few times a day and pick up some mineral oil tomorrow. The vet in town that does Herps rotates with another vet for the SPCA so I got to know him pretty well. So if his leg doesn't look better in a few days I will give him a call

Another question where do you order your Dubia's? I have read about them and they sound like a better option then crickets! I just hope Alberta's crazy animal bylaws allow them. Live rats are banned and it is illegal to sell aquatic turtles here, amoung other crazy things lol!

This is where is got my first batch! It takes a few months of not using them to get the colony going before using as feeders! But you'll never have to order stinky crickets again!

    LOL
Hannibal aways goes poop in the water, so I just put a small amount in then after she is done I clean out the sink and put fresh water in! She will even walk through her water dish and then poop when she gets out, Weird, but thats what she does every day.

    Re: Swollen Foot?

Letting your Bearded Dragon soak on a regular basis will help prevent your Bearded Dragon from having a bad shed, so maybe consider doing it at least once a week once this shed is over.

As for going poop, it is now to the point where mine will not poop anywhere outside of his water dish or the bath tub. At least he does it in places that are easy to clean! lol
