    Which Greens?

Which greens do your Bearded Dragons like best? Sometimes it seems like the collards and turnips are kind of tough. I was wondering which green (that they're allowed to have daily) is the tenderest or which one do your particular babies love most?

    Re: Which Greens?

mine really love mustard greens best... however lately i have been buying turnip greens and they seem to eat them as long as i mix in some yellow squash and Calcium powder just fine... i am growing my own little garden full of mustard greens so hopefully within the month i will have some fresh home grown green to feed them!

    Re: Which Greens?

Ryuu loves Yellow or Acorn squash mixed in with either turnip greens or dandelion greens. When it comes to mustard greens and collard greens, he is a bit picky about it. I usually get two or three different greens or squash, and mix them in with other "occasional" veggies for him to munch on. I am having to be careful about doing that, though. Ryuu will become stubborn and only eat the crushed grape, peach, or lemon grass if I add it.

I just feed the same mix I do my iguana. Collard, mustard and turnip greens, all cut up and mixed together.

I thought they couldn't have yellow squash, which is what we call summer squash down here...or by yellow, do you mean acorn, butternut, spaghetti, etc.?

It is summer squash that I use. I also give him acorn squash. Here is a link to a great diet sheet for bearded dragons:

    Re: Which Greens?

Orange fleshed squash grated up is good, like acorn, butternut, spaghetti, hubard, butternut, buttercup. Not the summer squash like yellow and green zucchini!

Greens, try dandelion greens! I chop all my greens up pretty small and mix in the worms and then she is bound to get some greens with the bugs.

I use a mixture of Mustard greens, collard greens, turnip greens, dandelion greens, and grated squash, usually butter nut squash grated because that the type I like.

There's nothing wrong with feeding the summer squashes but the orange skinned squashes have more nutrition to them.

    Oh, ok, thank you

Does anyone have any advice about the following? I think Macha is deciding to become a picky eater now that she's getting better food. The last few days, she's been scattering her food so that I can't tell if she's eaten any at all, and she's apparently rampaging or throwing a temper tantrum about it because she also is pushing her paper towels all over the place (or do they do that when they "play"? lol... so far I've only seen her do it in association with flinging her food, so I suspect she's angry). So, is this normal Bearded Dragon attitude or do I worry that she's not eating as much as she was at first? (I know, I'm too much of a mom... )

    Re: Which Greens?

She probably feeling better than she ever has, lol
Sorry but I had to laugh, maybe she looking for crickets to go with her greens! Or maybe there was something that she really liked in the mix and was looking for more!
