Welcoming Little Ones

I have not posted since the time I was asking if the egss were fertile. Today we got an answer to that question when I went to check on them in the incubator.

Re: Welcoming Little Ones

This is the only one so far, but if you look really closely you can see the outlines of other babies getting ready to hatch. I've got a second clutch of citrus babies that are due to hatch in about a week. I wasn't even sure if the clutch of normals was going to hatch, but this just goes to show that no matter how bad you think an egg looks. It can still hatch.

Re: Welcoming Little Ones

He is fully emerged and alive!

He kicked around some of the other eggs while he was emerging I guess. Bad news is a lot of them don't look very good, but who knows. I had pretty much written off this entire clutch.

So it says something different in each place about whether to or how long to leave them in the incubator after hatching. I was wondering whether to leave them in there despite the fact that his yolk sac appears to already be absorbed. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Adorable! What are you going to do with all the babies that will eat you out of house and home?

Re: Welcoming Little Ones

I'm going to adopt them out to good homes only. No little kids and only experienced people that I can trust. We will be putting in several orders for pin heads, probably 1,000 of them.

Re: Welcoming Little Ones

I'm excited to anounce that 3 more little babies are starting to poke their heads through. I'm so excited that I can't sleep. It's just amazing how resilient these guys are because the eggs really did not look good.
