I was feeding snakes (two of the Balls and a corn snake) last night and no one wanted to eat after trying every trick I knew. Of course Scout, being the pig that she is,was hungry. She was kicking back in her water bowl soaking, (shes getting ready to shed), and I dangled the small F/T rat in front of her just to see if she would be interested in it. Well, she hit that rat so hard that it spooked me and I dropped it. That snake caught that rat in mid-air!!! She came right up out of the water bowl!
They landed on the hide just outside of the bowl and she was coiled tight around it. She had it butt first but that never mattered to her. She once put down a mouse that was folded in half and I thought she would choke, but she didn't!
Anyhow, she took that rat into the water bowl all the while squishing it and trying to get her a better grip with her mouth. Ending up on the other side of the water bowl, she pulled the top/neck (?) part of herself over the edge of the bowl and let the rest of her body follow, then she pulled her head and the rat out of the water and continued to eat it on the opposite side of the bowl. It was the coolest thing to watch her! I would have never thought she would've eaten that rat after dang near drowing herself trying to get it across that bowl! Where is a video camera when you need one!!
