I don't think you have to worry about it right now. I changed my BP from hopper mice to fuzzy rats and fed him 2-3 at a time before graduating to the next bigger size rat. I now feed himsmall rats: 40- 60g. He's 2years old, 80cm long and weighs about 535 grams.
It's better to offer enough food once a week or once every two weeks than little meals more often. Snakes have a very special digestive system that requires a lot of energy. Feeding too often is not healthy.
There's a trick to changing food items. You get a mouse (or whatever he's used to) and the new food (ie. hamster, rat) and you rub the mouse all over the hamster. You may have to do that for the first few feedings to get him used to it, but after the second time, offer it without "scenting"... if he takes it, he's converted. If not, try scenting again.
That's how I switched Monty from mice to rats. I'm hoping he'll stay on rats from now on.
