Hey, those rubbermaid containers are the new cages, right? How do you keep them heated? With a pad under it? Because I can't see any room for lamps above it. Please help I'm new to this.

I use under tank heaters. I actually put them in smaller cages because they seemed to only use a little bit of those bigger ones. These are the ones I use now and I ran heat tape under both. If you use either of these methods MAKE SURE YOU USE A THERMOSTAT! If not you will burn your house down lol.

Alex just a note on your rubbermaids. You need to put a strip of velcro on the long sides right in the center to secure the top and the sides together. The area there is very weak and a snake can manage to squeeze through if they hit the right spot.

Its actually REALLY tight all around. It cant open up more then like 1/4". But for in the future, how do you attach the velcro?

Thanks for your answer, it did help me out a lot!
Your photo with the snake against the ruler creeped me out. I don't like the word D.E.A.D. on it. Sorry it had such an effect that I had to say it out.

But that opening is all your snake needs. Once the snake finds it and starts squeezing through they can pop it up. These guys are very strong!
I use an industrial strength velcro that has an adhesive backing. You put a strip of the bristled part on the top and another on the side right below the first peice. Then take a long section of the soft part and hooking it on the top peice pull it over the edge of the lid and anchor it to the peice on the side.

Merlin there isnt a way to pop it out, the top is touching the metal bars. I am pretty sure I am stronger then the snake and there is no way I could lift up the lid. But, I think we may be talking about 2 different cages :P. Are you talking about the blue one or the sweaterboxes? The blue one is just there to hold all the cork bark and junk I have extra from the old cages.
I will be trying to use the velcro though for the bottom cage because I think Im going to be using it again.
Thank you for the info on the velcro
