Tounge action question

Last night when I brought my BP "Juliet" Home she was flicking her tounge, and I was always told they are looking for food.. So I fed her and she ate it. and tonite I get home from work and look in here cage and she's sitting up in her little stick thingy and flicking her tounge? Could she possibly be hungry? (not even thinking about feeding her again, before anyone remarks on that), or just checking out her enviroment. Since I fed her so soon I haven't been able to spend anytime holding her or anything yet.

No necessarily,,sometimes they flick it just to flick it...if its faster than normal, they are most likely hungry. Mine are fed once a week and flick their tongues as they cruise about their cage.

If I'm not mistaken the reason they flick their tongues is to taste the air, it tells them a lot about their enviornment. Mine does it just about any time there's something new to smell in the air.

If its lots of short fast flicks, she is probably looking for food. If There are fewer longer flicks, she is tasting the environment.

This is general, and came from watching my snakes, they alternate sometimes.

Just because she is hungry, doesn't mean you should feed her, my corn snake is ALWAYS hungry, if I fed her as much as she wanted she would be obese... or probably dead by now.

They constantly flick their tongues regardless of whether they are hungry or not. Each time they flick the tongue they draw it back in and place the tips in a special organ in their mouths, They are in a sense tasting the environment. The relaxed slow flicking is just checking things out. A rapid flicking means something has caught their attention, be it food, a predator, or just a new and unusual scent. and they are gathering as much info about it as they can.
