Looking nice and fat. If they didn't tend to go on hunger strikes I would really like one, but I freak out if my iguana skips a single meal, I couldn't handle the stress of a BP going months without food!

This particular one hasnt ever done that but my other one has alot before. My other one went all winter without eating but lost very little wait. Aslong as they have fresh water at all times there usaully fine.

It is usually the WC specimens that go off feed. If you picked up a nice CB one, I doubt you would run into feeding problems. My BP has not refused a meal yet.

Unfortunaltely any BP can go on a hunger strike, Captive bred or wild caught..UNLESS some owners get lucky . All of mine are CB and have at one time or another gone without eating and yes Lacey, it is very stressful, more so to the owner rather than the BP itself, lol.

Hes a great looking guy Jason, fat and happy like we like them.

Hello,

I think I worded that a bit wrong. Im not saying that a CB ball python can't or won't go on a hunger strike. I was simply stating that a WC BP will be more stressed out and it is more likely to go on a hunger strike. Sorry if you misinterpreted that.

While stress can bring on feeding problems in snakes, with ball pythons its a normal part of their breeding cycle.
Even captive bred specimens will still carry this instinctual behavior.
Which can and does make one crazy!
