Albino Ball?

Would a 100% het albino male that produced with a normal female have any chance of producing albino ball pythons? If not, what would they produce?

They should all diplay as normals, but will be het for amelanism (albino)...

...Unless the normal female was carrying a het for albino as well...

From a 100% het male, meaning he is carrying the albino gene but does not show it, to a normal female, ie not carrying the albino gene, the offspring that they will produce will all look normal but 50% of them in therory (its not an exact science) should also be het for albino. So you would label the clutch as all being 50% het albino as you have no way of telling hets from normals.

If you want to produce albinos from a het you need to either breed to an albino or another het albino as it is a ressessive gene so both parents need to carry it for it to be visual in the next generation...

Some examples for you..

het albino x normal

out of every 4 offspring you should get
2 Normal
2 Normal (het albino)

het albino x het albino

out of every 4 offspring you should get
1 Normal
2 Normal (het albino)
1 Albino

albino x het albino

out of every 4 offspring you should get
2 Normal (het albino)
2 Albino

Hope this helps

Yeah, thanks. I took a look at NERD's gene page and learned all of that stuff. Thanks again.
