hey if I sell my egu I can get a ball so if any of you want one I posted in classifieds

ok my qs
1. would a 40gal breeder critter cage be good for a full grown BP?
2. what heat bulb should I use for night time that does not efect my sleeping
3. what kind of hide outs should I use
4. what bedding is best to hold humidaty?
5. what kind of branches should I use in the cage?
6. how many times a month do you feed a ball thats about a foot long
7. how do you tell if its male or female without probing? (i will get it brobed just not right away)

Sara,
1. a 40 gallon is fine
2. you can use a Under Tank Heater and not worry about lights at night
3. you can purchase hides at any petstore,,,just be sure to place one on the warm
end and one on the cool
4. Reptibark does a good job of holding humidity but I find papertowels or newspaper
is easiest to clean
5. Branches are not necessary,,,Balls are not known for there climbing abilities
6. general rule to feeding: Juvies- once a week Adult- every 10-14 days
(and balls tend to frustrate there owners and refuse food for months at a time)
7. Probing is the only real accurate way to tell the sex.

I don't know how that retains humidity, We used it once a long time ago for our corns but we don't monitor humidity with them. You can try it,,,,but make sure you have an accurate humidity guage in the tank.

Hey Sara, it never hurts to try, if it doesnt work you can always switch. I have always used reptibark for my Bp's with no problems. I do spot cleaning daily, removing large sections and replacing if needed. Good luck and keep us posted.
