what I would put it in- a rubbermaid I think its a 16-20 gal one

my Qs
1. can I use a human heating pad to heat one side of the rubbermaid?
2. how mutch is to high to pay for a young normal ball in the US?
3. what should I check for when looking at them ie were to look for bugs
4. what all do I need in its cage? -i need cage setup pics
5. what should I use for substrait?
6. is it ok to have a dish of water on the heating pad side to produce humidaty?

thanks for all your imputs in advance and I would like some good names

Sara,
1. Yes you can use a human heat pad (under the rubermaid,,not in it)
2. Price will depend on size, sex, and morph and also wild caught as opposed to captive (always buy captive,,,more $$ but better off)
3. Visually check for mites and pay close attention to the eyes, nostrils, pits, and vents as these are the hardest places to rid mites from.
4. You need 2 hides, 1 in the warm end, 1 in the cool end. and a water bowl large enough for him to soak in. you also need a thermometer and humidity guage
5. I find paper towels to be the easiest substrate, newspaper is good also.
6. humidity can be controlled by the water bowl and also get a spray bottle that adjusts to fine spray.
hope this helps,,,,and be sure to read our caresheet

May I suggest something? Buy your bp directly from a serious breeder.
I was lucky to find a very serious breeder from whom I already picked out two bps but he didn't give them to me yet.The reason is that the bps need to eat at least ten times without problems before he sells them.
I saw breeders at a reptile show who sold hatchlings where it was clear that they never could have eaten ten times, because they were very young.I wouldn't recommend that.
If you find a breeder and he/she doesn't invite you to see the parents of the babies, don't buy them, because then for sure is something wrong.
Many breeders sell them much too early because they don't want to pay for their food too long and they want make money.Better not rush into things, that's my opinion.
From the day I decided I want a bp(finding a breeder, waiting for the eggs being layed, waiting for the eggs to hatch, etc), 'til the day I finally get them I will have waited about 8 month. It's sure worth the wait because I will know where they come from and how they have been treated and I will know their sex, also how much they ate so far and also know their parents;all this you'll never get in a pet store.
Again, this is my opinion and my way of doing it.You do as you feel is right for you.You might find a really good pet store where they have a cute little bp,then go for it.The best of luck and keep us posted.Maybe some pics?
By the way, your clay critters are soo adorable!!Any chance of doing some bps and sending them to Switzerland???
