Beautiful babies, Amelia!

How come the article about the pastel pied talks about "cutting the clutch open"? Is there a particular reason someone wouldn't allow a whole clutch of eggs to hatch on their own?

Plenty of people cut their own eggs open, we do so all the time here, it's a careful job though, I suppose there are numerous reasons why, to get a peek inside at what there is, to ensure that any possibly weak hatchlings have a chance to make it out alright.

Amelia,

Beautiful babies! How big are they? They look like they are good size sitting on the news paper!

Weight wise, from that clutch they are 76-82 grams right now, will see how that changes once they get a bit thinner from using up all their yolk, and rat pups work wonders to start them out on.
