one year fast is over!

Well, tonight my adult female decided to eat for me. It has been alittle over a year at this point. I can finally get a good nights sleep. She had me alittle worried for a bit....

Sorry for the bad photograph, did not want to interupt her by any means.

She hadn't eaten in a year and you were only a little worried I would have been pulling my hair out. I worry when one of the snakes misses one regular meal. Glad this place is a support group

They do make us crazy don't they!

My BP's first winter fast had me climbing the walls. Every weekend I thawed two food items and tried to feed them. Now from November to May I will thaw one food item and offer it to the male (he's the one who fasts). If he doesn't take it I give it to the female.
It's just something you get used to.

Hello,

Congrats on the feeding. I myself haven't experienced that yet. Kyros is an aggressive feeder and hasn't turned down prey since the first time he took. (He can be stubborn, but he eventually takes it.)

I am glad that it worked out for you and hope I never have to deal with it.lol (Though I am prepared too knowing how they can be.)

Fantastic! WOW...that's a LONG time....I would have been a gelatinous puddle of goo on the floor after a year's worth of worrying

LOL all.

I would have been more worried if she had dropped weight to a dangerous level, but she is still such a thick snake.
I feed my regius only once sometimes twice a month anyway as to make sure they dont become obese. So there was no doubt in my mind that she was going to be ok.......Well ok I admit, i was alittle uneasy

Glad she's eating for you again ok.. those royals really know how to stress their owners out We have a male who fasts every year - the year before last he didn't eat for six months, this year it was eight. Although I have to admit this time we weren't worried at all and just kept trying him with food every few weeks. Once it happens once you know not to panic and they will eat again when they are ready.. haha just waiting for our babies to grow up and realise the fun of fasting Luckily our other adult male has always been a good feeder and only misses a feed here and there when he's more intent on searching for a mate
