First Ball Python, Got Some Questions!

Hey guys. So i just bought my first ball python on tuesday. She is a very chill snake. Ive tried to keep handling to a minimum but its hard when all my friends want to see her haha. I know you are supposed to let them get used to their new environment, and im wondering if she is. She has explored her tank a few times, but mostly stays in her hide on the Under Tank Heater. When i do handle her, she doesnt seem to be stressed (curling up in a ball) or scared. She slithers through my fingers and hangs on to my wrist. Do you think she is comfortable with her new home yet? The temperature is pretty good, but humidity is a bit low. And her feeding day is tommorow, so im wondering if she will eat for me? Feeding her a frozen thawed hopper. Going to feed her in a shoe box. She is about a foot and a half long. Any tips and answers are welcome, thanks.

No, I don't think she is comfortable yet. I just think she is being very tolerent. You are really supposed to let them settle in for a week before you start handling them.

Its possible she is comfortable. Its possible she is completely stressed and slithering around in confusion. Stress is not displayed in the same way by every animal. You really have to know your snake to acurately tell when it is stressed. Which is why the 1 week rule is in place. Better safe than sorry. Stress isn't just mean to your snake, stress can kill a snake and is cumulative. Just give it time. You will get to handle your snake all you want when it is settled in properly and happy in its new home.

Leave the snake alone to get settled. There will be plenty of time for handling later.

Tell them to go away and come back later!
The snakes health is more important than their entertainment.

When we get a new pet we don't have people over to see it! Every thing is just to new to them and having a bunch of friend over would be further unneeded stress on a new pet!

Ok thanks for the advice. I am going to try feeding her tonight. The pet store i got her from was feeding her in a seperate cage, but i think i will just feed her in her viv. Good idea or bad?

One more question, when feeding frozen/thawed, should i just drop it infront of her?or use tongs and wiggle it for her? She doesnt seem interested when i wiggle it

How warm is it? Some snakes wont strike cold prey.
It does vary from snake to snake.
Some will strike a wiggle, some will just eat it lying on the floor. You have to try different things to see what works for that particular animal.
You can try leaving it alone with the snake for a bit. A stressed snake will usually not feed.

I found it was easer to feed my new ball a live mouse just I had to stun it first she seems to like it more and its my opion it makes them happyer

It was warm. I tried feeding her for probably 20 minutes and she didnt eat, so im going to try again in a few days
