belly temp vs air temp

I've been reading some post on this but haven't got a clear answer yet.
My belly heat on the hot side inside the hide is kept between 90-95 degrees. The "air temp" is around 80-83 on the hot side. (Cool side temps are ok 80-85). Should the air temp also be 90-95 or is this just for the belly heat temp??

I presume you are using a Under Tank Heater (under-tank heater)? The basking spot should be in the 90-95f area, but if you are using a Under Tank Heater then they tend to warm the surrounding surfaces rather than the air temp. As long as there is an area which is 90-95f you are fine,. what is the enclosure made of/how big is it? Its unusual that your cooler-end temps are higher than the warm end??, what thermometer are you using, and did you measure right? Even though UTHs don't warm air-temp like bulbs or CHEs do, they still warm the surrounding area and your temps on the warm end should be higher than the cool end,. We use UTHs for our BPs who are in plastic enclosures in a rack system. The floor temp is 90-95f, and the warm end is 85-90f,. plastic keeps the heat in better than glass and wood I have found.

Hope this helps.
