What Do I Do?

I've been trying to feed my snake now, for two weeks. And nothing. I've searched online for answers, and came to this website. Last weeks I fed it a frozen mouse, just in case it wouldn't eat, it would be easier to get rid of. But nothing. It didn't eat. So this saturday, I bought a live one. And its not eating that one either. I've left the mouse in the cage since then. I have no where else to put it. And I really dont wanna just "throw it out" somewhere. What should I do with the mouse? Cause I don't want it pooping around my snakes cage. It's like theyre friends now. Its ridiculous. My snake will let it go all around touching it and what not. And it enrages me. I just can't believe it. Even my mother laughs!!! What do I do about my snake not eating? I don't think its time for Bruce to shed. Bruce is my ball python btw. Oh, and I should mention, that probably 3 weeks ago, another mouse bit him a couple times, and I'm thinking he's scared because of it, or he's just not hungry.I need my own answers here. Someone please help. I'm getting worried even tho, I know ball pythons are picky eaters. HELP MEE! PLEASE!

Re: What Do I Do?

First things first... Get the live mouse out of there! Just leaving a live mouse in the tank with a snake that isn't hungry isn't a good idea. Especially since the snake has already been bitten once.

Sometimes snakes go on hunger strikes.. It's what they do. When you say that you tried feeding it a frozen mouse, do you mean frozen thawed? Was it still cold? If so the snake won't go near it.

To be able to give you more help we need more information. How big is the snake? what kind of setup is he in? What kind of Substrate, heat, hides, humidity, temps, ect...

Re: What Do I Do?

Try also feeding either fresh killed or frozen thawed. Being the other mouse bit the snake, he is probably skiddish about eating. How old is your python? Pythons are notorious for going for weeks even months without eating. As mentioned above, we need more information. Last but not least, quit freaking out, you are stressing more than the snake

Also, did you put meds on the current bites?

Re: What Do I Do?

How big is the snake and how long have you had it. What are the exact temperatures and humidity, how are you measuring them and give us a full detailed description of the enclosure. The more information you give us the more likely we will be able to help.
And get that live mouse out of there now!
Unless you want it to kill your snake!

Re: What Do I Do?

Never leave a rodent inside your snake enclosure for long periods of time. Rodents teeth are constantly growing and need to chew on something which can include your snake in order to keep them trimmed. Ball Pythons are known for going on hunger strikes, this includes reason such as to big or small of cage, to low or high humidity, to big or small hiding places, not enough hidden places, temperature not with in the right range, to much light in the enclosure, etc. How old is your Ball Python? What size cage do you have your snake in? What type of cage is it (glass, PVC, etc). What is the humidity level in your cage? What are the low and high temperatures in you cage? How are you getting your temperature and humidity readings? What type of temperature devices are you using (heat lamp, heat strip, etc) What type of substrate do you have in your cage? How long have you had the snake? What did the current owner feed the snake? These are some of the question that you need to make available so that we can better help you with your problem.
