Humidity Problems? How Do You Keep It Up?

Title pretty much says it all. I have a humidity gauge in his cage, and ill spray it down and it'll be around 80%. But overnight it drops back down to a little more than 60%. Is there any ways/tricks I can get it to sit @ 75%?

Thanks

Daniel

Edit: So, shamefully I admit I did not browse the forums before posting this, so I apologize for the repeat post. I have found some information that others have given about sealing up the cage so not as much moisture can escape.

My question is this. If I have a glass enclosure with a screen top, how much/can I cover some of it, to make the humidity stay in a bit longer?

I would say you can cover just about everything but where the light is. Also, what kind of hydrometer do you have? the little dial ones that just stick on aren't very accurate so you might want to go digital. Most of the time you can find a digital thermometer/ hydrometer combo at your local Lowes or Home Depot for about $15.... They will work a lot better than the ones from the pet store. You can also get one that has a min/max feature that allows you to see what the top and bottom temps and humidity are...

great. I am using one of those stickon dial ones. I'll get a digital one then. So, it's ok airwise if I cover the whole cage except for where the light hits? He'll be able to breathe?

P.S. Cover it with what?

Re: Humidity Problems? How Do You Keep It Up?

It should be ok to cover most of it except where the fixture is. And the way you say,"where the light hits" makes me think you have a clamp on lamp or something where there is space between the lamp and screen top? If so you should definitely have enough air flow, if not then you can just leave an inch or 2 around the lamp. You can use a piece of plexi, glass, or plastic wrap, anything that water won't evaporate through...
