Ivan and Bo had fecal samples tested and they came back clear of everything, which is good but...
This is what bothers me. The vet took maybe 5 minutes to look at both samples and charged $24.75 EACH for 5 minutes of work!
Even my dogs' samples only cost $10.00 a pc.!! Is that even enough time to look for anything in their samples??
Mind you, my dog and cat vet isn't the same vet as my reps but still....is that expensive or what?? It's POOP for goodness sakes!!!

It sounds a bit much to me! Unfortunately some vets think that tacking the term "exotic" on to things gives them licence to break it off in people!
My vet does fecals for 10 bucks a pop. (never took more than one in at a time so I don't know about quantity discounts! )
It doesn't take very long to check a sample.

Which vet did you go to?

I agree with Merlin about the "exotic" tack on but if you're experienced in parasitology it doesn't take too long to read a slide ( I read them for a living ) . You only have to look at them for extended periods of time if you actually see something. Get a 2nd opinion if you're uncomfortable and tell the new vet how the other one behaved.

Maybe this will make you feel better: when I first got Godiva long long ago she had a respiratory tract infection so I had to take her to the emergency vet up the road and they charged me about $100 to see her and give her meds. When my poor (now deceased ) house snake first got sick I took him to the regular snakey vet a couple towns away and they charged me less than $80 to see him, hospitalize him breifly, and give him meds. Go figure
