Re: Allergic?
I'm not sure! It's not something that they would encounter in their native habitat.
I'd keep him away from it.

Re: Allergic?
I would think their scaley hind would protect them from direct contact with it but it's probably not a 100% guarentee. And also I figure burning poison ivy, the fumes would have the same lethal affect on them as with any other living animals... except for those lucky few that are imune to it like me hahaha. Just don't try it though its not the best idea, who knows how it would really affect them.

Re: Allergic?
I got poison ivy and wanted to know if it would be safe to handle. I haven't handled her though.

Re: Allergic?
Just a thought, do your Calamine lotion and tend to your rash and you really should clear up quickly. 4-5 days has been my experience. It's like measles, after a while you are not contagious. You may have some residual bumps and discoloration, but it is your skin healing, not contaminated. Then handle your snake. I have it on sound advice that it is Ok to let your snake be snake for that amount of time. If it is urgent, like a poopy cleaning, wrap the affected area in gauze (depending on the area) and handle him/her as little as possible until you are comfortable. I hope this helps.

Re: Allergic?
Hahaa, I actually have a terrible case of poison ivy at the moment, Ive been handeling my boa with no problems and its been about 3 days so it should be fine. My poison ivy is on my chest, back, shoulders and a little on my upper forearms so she does not come in contact with the infected area at all, but I always wash my hands before handeling her.

Re: Allergic?
The seeping from the rash is your body fighting it and it is not contagious.
Only direct contact with the oils from the plant is a problem
