Kathy (Kikai) and her husband Jay came to vist me this evening and we were playing around with the ball pythons and comparing thier belly markings. Well Kathy had the male, Clove, and she was stroking his belly and the studly little guy everted his hemipenes!

She really hadn't applied any pressure and Clove is almost two years old so he is technically mature and he is housed with my female of the same age, Godiva. Now I'm worried that they have been copulating since he everted so readily. I housed them together because I have plenty of assurances that they shouldn't be interested in eachother since they have always lived together and I haven't been mucking with the temps or photoperiod and they are both still feeding. They are not where I can observe them easily so I wouldn't be likely to catch them in the act. PLEASE PLEASE tell me that in your opinions they WERE NOT mating! I really do not need a gravid python to add to the worry list right now

Is there any other reason for him to evert his hemipenes with such light pressue? I mean really light pressure, you'd have to apply more pressure to pop a hatchling than what Kathy was applying to his underside.
