Is There Something Wrong?

i fed my new bp late on friday night, and I didn't handle him at all on saturday. i took him out late on sunday night... 48 hours later, and he hissed and tried to bite a few times. i put him back in his tank, and he hasn't really moved much at all. is there something wrong?

Re: Is There Something Wrong?

can you tell us a bit about his set up and his size? Tank size, temps, humidity, etc?

welcome to the boards!

Re: Is There Something Wrong?

You are rushing things. You just got the snake a week ago and during that time you have handed him around to your friends. You really need to leave the snake alone for a bit to get settled in! And let me guess, you pulled the hide off of him and grabbed him.

This is a wild animal. And baby snakes are on the menu for every creature that wanders by!
At this stage of the game it views you as something that is most likely going to eat him! you need to go easy! Limit your dealings with him to whatever tank maintainance needs to be done and leave him alone for a week or so.

Imagine you are sleeping when this THING rips the roof off of your bedroom and grabs you! You would not respond to favorably to it!
You have to move slowly and gently and get the snake used to you and realize that you are not a threat!

Re: Is There Something Wrong?

also depending on how new he is he may still be adjusting to his surroundings. how long have you had him?

you should always wait at least 2-3 days to handle your snake after feeding to lessen the chance of a regurge. this way your snake will have time to digest properly. having the temps right as well will help to aide in digestion. if its too cold your snake will not digest properly.

you should also wait a week at least for a new snake to settle in, no feeding or handling. they will be stressed out enough getting used to new things without someone trying to come in and play with them or feed them.
