Outside Fun

Took my male ball python outside for some fun in the sun today. Looks like I can get more outside time in for my critters tomorrow too. Supposed to be 80 Anyways here he is having a blast out in the grass I felt soo sad when I returned him to his enclosure though He came up to the glass and gave me a look like "but daddy I want to have more fun pa pa please?"

Re: Outside Fun

I've always wanted to take Dexter outside. Is there any concern about parasites, etc.? (I live in NEPA, btw, so it will be a month or two yet before it's warm enough HERE to take him out).

I've taken my box turtle outside occasionally (when I can find a place with grass that I know hasn't used any pesticides, etc. - so when I take her, I could take him too).

Re: Outside Fun

yeah I'm with Jinx...as this is my first snake owning experience I was curious about taking my baby outside. I live in Florida so summers are great...nice and warm and humid but I wasn't sure about the dangers or what I need to be concerned with in having him outside or what...

and gorgeous snake by the way!

Re: Outside Fun

you just have to be careful with them wandering through the grass and things like that because of mites or other kinds of buggies. i'm kind of paranoid about letting my snakes in the grass but thats just me lol. i like to take them out and sit with them in my lap so they can soak up some sun.

hopefully someone else can come along maybe with something else that will help.

Re: Outside Fun

Fleas won't bother a reptile. I routinely take my animals outside in the yard and have never had a problem. If you are in an area with a high population of native reptiles there is the possiblity of picking up mites but as I said I have never had a problem with it.
