Re: Equipment
Cost will vary depending on where you get it. You need a hide, water dish, Under Tank Heater, newspaper or paper towel start out with and a above light. If you get a hatchling, it can live in a 20 gl long for quite awhile because they are slow growers. Here is our caresheet for more info.

Re: Equipment
Its very tough to give a number on something like this. A 20 gallon long tank costs about $40 bucks from a pet store, but you could probaly find one for $10 to $15 bucks if you check local classifieds. If you bought a hide and water dish from a petstore, you'd spend about $30 bucks for both, but using say, a small litter pan for water and a homemade hide you'd probaly spend less then $10. Due to all this its very hard to give you a number for how much it'll cost.
I would follow venus advice with the caresheet to get an idea what you need.

Re: Equipment
Personally I bought a 40gallon breeder for my bp, a half log hide, a under tank heater, basking light and fixture and I buy the cocunut fiber substrate for him which ran after tax around 150-160 at petsmart. But I also use a large shallow bowl for water, and a box cut to make another hide. But depending how picky you are and your wallet, the prices can vary. If your someone who wants EVERY LITTLE DETAIL to look all natural, its gonna cost you more than fabricating and using the things you have already. But if your a first time owner and dont care about looks, then you simply need a tank, heating equipment, and a thermo (preferably digital not the ones that stick to the glass) and you can make the hides, use a water bowl that shallow as I did, and just use newspaper/ papertowls.. But also take in consideration, that you can buy a basking light and fixture and a digi thermo at walmart. So instead of spending 50-70 you can spend 20...

Re: Equipment
when I first started out..i was stupid and bought wood hides and climbing branches at pet stores..which arnt cheap!if you just walk around *i take nature walks!* and find something youll think would be awesome! just bake the wood 300deg for 30 minutes or what I do is add boiling water add half a cap of bleach soak it for 2 hours or so then bake it for 45min on 300
no little creature should be alive after that ...also be creative |

Re: Equipment
you can find some cool stuff at petstores though. Today at work I bought cool piece of driftwood (mopani wood) on clearance for $3 and one of those dividers you would use to give a aquatic turtle a basking spot for $5. Im going to use the divider to make a terrace in the new tank im buying for my white spotted wall gecko.
