Re: Fasting Question
Can you post a picture of it?
How long has it been that way? I want to say it kind of sounds like he had a bad shed last time and not all of it came off, or that he might be dehydrated, but I'm not sure. I'm definitely no expert. Usually shedding is a byproduct of the animal getting larger. If he's not growing as rapidly as he used to, he might not shed as often.

Re: Fasting Question
quite a few snakes are known for going off feed for the winter. my rosy boa goes off food from about august to february. the first time it freaked me out but now that i've had him for a few years I expect it. and older snakes don't shed all that often because they're not growning as fast so it also depends on your snakes age.
if you think he had a bad shed you can always try putting him in a pillowcase with dampened towels and letting him slide around in them. that helps loosen up the old skin. most times a bad shed is a result of the wrong humidity so you'll want to make sure that's correct. it helps to give us a run down of his enclosure (temps, humidity, etc) that way maybe there is something a little off that you don't notice that someone can pick up on and help with.

Re: Fasting Question
Since hes not eating then he will not shed as often. However I have never noticed mine having a difference in appearance.
