same here. by BP hasnt ate since late oct early nov, and as stated in other threads she still is showing normal behavior. water consumption and coming out and moving around @ night. i am going out of town tomorrow so I will try and feed her a smaller size rodent compared to what she would normally eat just to see if she will feed. if not I will try again when I get back in town.

Re: Seeking Advice, Another 'wont Eat' Thread
i do have a thermometer/humid guage, and it is definately too cold, 70* and 55%humid, as for feeding them dead mice, tried in beginning and was never successful. im pretty sure they were raised on live mice. i reheat them and move em around.. leave em in with em... tried it all no luck. I dont know the sex of them, but judging by what you all are saying, males fast..... and grow slower. my other snake is much larger, and is still eating, although it has eating prob 50% more total in its life then the one thats fasting. My assumption is the fasting bp is male.... other female. however they are both still active at night, and have seen both drinking water. oddly enough I have a green anole which I bought for a 'treat' for one of the bp's, neither would eat it. so now it lives in there too and boy does it know that the snakes are bad news, it watches them like a hawk, and dashes accross the cage when the snakes get close to it. I wonder if they can pick up its heat with their pitt's, because its cold blooded too? maybe thats why they wont eat it.

Re: Seeking Advice, Another 'wont Eat' Thread
Ball pythons eat warm blooded prey. Anoles aren't on the menu. And it may be bothering the snakes with all the darting around. Not to mention the chance of passing on parasites or disease!
You need to get that heat up! 70 degrees is lower than the recommended night time low. To keep thm at that all the time is asking for trouble. Not only can they not digest properly it lowers their immune systemand leaves them vulnerable to disease.
They should have a warm area 90-95 degrees with an ambient temperature in the 80s. It can drop down to 75-80 at night.

Re: Seeking Advice, Another 'wont Eat' Thread
I have two ball pythons (1 male & 1 female). I got them both when they were about 3 months old. The male is about 6 months older. He is about 3 1/2 now. Every winter from about October until February or March, he seems to go on a fast and won't eat. He occasionally shows mild interest, then he turns away & wants nothing to do with food. My girl however, is always interested. She has now surpassed him in size by quite a lot. The first year, he fasted, I was extremely concerned. This is now his 3rd year and I have come to terms with it.
In addition, they stay in the same tank, so I know that the environment is not a deciding factor.

I, too, would recommend finding a different place for the anole to live. It sounds like a stressful environment (especially for the lizard!) but BPs can get irritated easily too.
As Merlin said, anoles are not on the diet plan of BPs and the risk of disease is a reality.
Get a heat panel or a heat lamp to raise your temperatures.

Re: Seeking Advice, Another 'wont Eat' Thread
also, having been fed on live mice doesn't always have anything to do with it. my snakes used to be fed live until I switched over to frozen thawed mice. they took right to them easily. some switch over easily, some don't but usually with time they will learn that a thawed out, warmed up mouse is just as good as a live one, without the risk of getting bitten in the process.
i don't have bps but I have a rosy boa who for the past 3 years at least will stop eating around august and resume again in january or february. its a pain in the butt because I don't know exactly when he'll eat but now I come to expect it.

It's really not a good idea at all to mix different species in an enclosed space. The anole could carry viruses or bacteria not harmful to itself or other lizards, but dangerous to other reptiles... and vice-versa with the sulcata. In the wild, there is enough space for animals to get away from eachother and their droppings. In an enclosed tank, that's not possible. The lizard will be running around (possibly defecating) all over and around the sulcata's lunch. I wouldn't risk it.
Can you give the anole back to the shop? Or to someone that would like to have it as a pet?

Re: Seeking Advice, Another 'wont Eat' Thread
still havent eaten, when I went to the pet shop to buy some more feeder mice, i asked for the biggest ones, and I ended up with two pregnent ones! i put them each in there own housing, they had babies... the 1st one to give birth started eating them.... so we took the rest of em away from her andgave them to the otherm om, who hadnt popped yet. she picked em up and took em back into her nest. she is nursing now 13 babies all togethor, none died amazingly even after she had her own!
but anyways moral of the story is I tried feeding a pinky that had just barely any hair, (so fuzzy I guess) he would look at it, and then just ignore it, and slither right over/through it.... got hte temp's up..... still no luck. hopefully its fasting. i still have the anole in there..... i dont know I guess I just need to give it to one of my younger cousins with a little terrranium. would be a good first timer pet. ill keep yah posted.
