Wierd staring behavior?

Ok so I'm laying on my couch minding my own business. I have the BPs in the pocket of my hooded sweatshirt so they are on my belly and one end of each snake is protruding from either end of the pocket but they are both STARING at SOMETHING that I can't see and doing a bit of tongue flicking. There is NOTHING moving over there so WHAT are they looking at? I think maybe they are just trying to give me a complex or something like when cats stare into middle distance.

If they are imaginary how could they see them?

Actually both of mine will from time to time sit and look up at the top of the cage and for the life of me I can't figure out what they could be looking at.

Mine do that too, they can be slithering away there on my bed, then stop in there tracks as if they have seen something, and stare for ages into space, I always look around puzzled, to where they are looking to see what they are looking at
