i think this is a split decision with most herpers, and I agree with Merlin with fact that it might be able to reduce the amount of strikes when getting them out of the cage, but there are other ways of traing the snakes while feeding them in the same cage as they live in. i think that colobrids and small pythons and boas(i.e. BP or hogg island's) would be safe to feed in a separate container since they are relativley managable by yourself, but can you imagine moving a 10+ 60lb burm to another enclosure and back. thats why I think herpers with larger species of snakes often hook train theirs rather than move them to a separate container, it does the same job. great feeding pics.
