Yesterday this female dropped 3 eggs, which I have been waiting and waiting on to come. All good things in time though right? She is a really light female who was originally one of the few neat imported girls around here, and has been with us for a few years now. She was bred by our SK axanthic. She definately stands out against him, normals, and other morphs around here. I can't wait to see the babies. Here's to clutch 24 of ball pythons for 2007

Can you post pics of the eggs? I've never seen them, so I'm curious. How long before they hatch? Now here's a really ignorant question: is there just one snake per egg, or multiples?

Anyway, it sounds like you have a really cool life. I imagine that herping is your full-time job?

I will see about getting a shot of the eggs, normally in my egg photos you can see more of the eggs, however Erik snapped this shot as he was eager to get them into the incubator. I didn't get to weigh them yet or the female, which I normally do.

As far as incubation goes, about 60 days sometimes more or less is typical for a ball python to be incubated for, at least when not done maternally, if the mother does it, well then it usually takes a bit longer. Typically one snake per egg, though you can get twins, it just depends.

The reptiles here well snakes anyways are just a hobby so far nothing full time, though it would seem like it, there is always something to clean and do something with down there, these eggs push us over 300 eggs this year for everything, and 100 something of those being balls alone. Everything is already hatched, these guys were a later clutch than usual, but some of the originally wc girls do tend to go on a later cycle than most of our other females will.
