my baby ball is about 5 months old. when I first got him he was always out and about but within the last few weeks hes been in his cave and wont come out. i was wondering if anyone could help me on this

have you had him for the entire 5 months? its possible he could be getting ready for shed if he hasn't shed for you yet. has anything changed in his enclosure recently that might stress him out? have the temperatures in the enclosure changed at all? tell us about him and his environment and we may be able to help you find out what could be up.

Ball pythons are nocturnal. Most of their moving around is at night.

i have had him aobut 3 months and yes he is about to shed but its been going on like this since before he shed last time he dont even come out to eat he just waits for the mouse to come in to him
i have not changed nothing in his cage and the temps are the same

has he been eating normally and defecating normally? if you're feeding live have you noticed any bite marks on the snake from the mice? they will bite back if they're not frozen/thawed or prekilled and if perhaps the mouse bit your snake it might have scared him and made him not want to come out. have you noticed any changes in his behavior besides always hiding? like noisy breathing or anything? i've never had a ball python so i'm not too familiar with their personalities so i'm just asking some general questions incase anyone else comes along and can help out.

nope no bite marks or other changes thats it. my thermometer broke so im going to have to buy a new one and recheck the temps thats the only other thing I can think of

definitely recheck the temps. they might be off enough for him to act differently.

how much have you been handling, well up till the start to shed. both of mine vary rarely come out of there hide till their night light comes on.
