humidity question

ok im driving myself crazy right now...this is my first snake..ive had lots of snake experience helping my uncle who breeds them when I was younger...but ive never owned one before...i got a very healthy ball python from a pet store in town...well hes just now trying to shed and its just coming off in pieces and is now just stuck on his sides and the eye caps are still there...for the love of god someone tell me how to keep the humidity up in his cage...i mean, half of his enclosure is this huge water dish and I spray the tank constantly but the humidity only goes up to like 65 maybe 70 and then 20 minutes later its back to like 40...what do I do?? i need help....i asked my uncle before but he says I dont really need to worry too much about the humidity with him...but obviously I do. so PLEASE HELP ME!

Re: humidity question

You can try covering the lid with a damp towel, plastic wrap or foil. THis should help some and misting will as well. If he still has shed on him, many people here put a damp towel in a pillow case with the snake, put on the warm side of the tank over nite and it should help remove the left over shed.

Re: humidity question

awesome! thanks....my husband was talking about putting foil over one side of the cage..we might do that...later. for now I will try the pillow case idea. does it have to be over night or can I do it now? or will he just not really move around enough since its daytime?

Re: humidity question

You should be able to do it now as well, maybe just cover the tank to make it dark. It should still work. Oh and make the towel warm water, think I forgot to say that.
