Snakes do not shed on any particular timetable but by their growth rate.
Young, rapidly growing, snakes can shed everi 3-4 weeks while older snakes only shed a few times a year. It just depends on how much they are growing.
If you wish you can soak your snake once a week in lukewarm water. If the water feels warm to your skin its too hot. The easiest way is to just place a bowl of water in the cage large enough fo the snake to curl up in and liet them decide if they need to soak. I seldom ever soak my pythons unless there has been a problem with a shed.
Also don't be surprised if the snake deficates during the soak.

If it is large enough for them to get into. Some snakes soak and some don't.

I never soak my BP because he HATES water!! If you use a bowl big enough for soaking and shedding, just make sure that you don't fill it too much and that the snake can keep his head out of the water and get out of the bowl easily. (I've seen drowned baby snakes in pet shops' water bowls.) Also change the water regularly even if it doesn't seem dirty. (We change all of our snakes' water every day.)
I use a moss-box for my BP. He crawls in at shedding time and usually doesn't come out for a week or more. When he does come out, there's usually a nice rolled up shed inside (with some stinky presents too).
You can make one easily out of a tuppaware container. Just cut a hole in one of the short sides, big enough for your snake to get in and out of with a full belly. You do not need any other air holes in the top. The box doesn't need to be very big... BPs like a cozy space to hide. I'm still surprised that my BP fits in his mossbox! Fill the box about 1/3 full with moist sphagnum moss. And keep it moist. When the snake needs extra humidity, he'll go in there.
Here's my BP Monty in his mossbox. You can see he's in the "blue" phase of his shed.

Here's a pic of the bigger mossbox I used for my Rainbow Boas: this box would be too big for a BP but you can see the idea: a plastic box with one entrance hole in the side.

Fill the bottom part with moist (not wet) moss. Do not use sponges or other types of material: they grow bacteria. You can re-wet the moss as often as needed, but if the BP defecates or urinates on it, you'll want to toss it, clean the box well and put in new moist moss.
I hope that helps!

Our baby ball (born in June/July of 06) will usually shed every other week. I'm all most guaranteed a shed after increasing the size of the pray it eats. Hope this helps.
