HISSSING

My new ball python hissed, what is that all about. i got scared an someone told me she might be hungry so I gave her a hopper but what does hissing mean in a ball python WHO never had a problem being handled.
well I only had her less than a wk but if anyone can help me out, need odd-ball help.

It doesn't necessarily mean anything bad. He/she may just be annoyed - did you disturb him from sleep or something? Or he/she could be about to shed.

What were you doing when she hissed? They hiss as a warning, telling you that they dont want you to touch them, normally out of fear of you. Since you've only had her for a week shes very frightened. Give her some time before handling her. Balls normally only hiss if they're frightened or stress and dont want to be bothered, not when they're hungry. In the future if she hisses, and shes used to you, take it as a sign that she wants to be left alone.

With the ball pythons being lazy, I always got the impression that their his was them saying "Come on, I was so relaxed and you want to bother me". lol
