Scorpions have 8 legs. Scorpions, spiders, ticks, tarantulas, pseudoscorpions, whipscorpions, vinegeroons, small tick/lice looking thingies, all are arachnids.

Solifugids are another arachnid too if I'm not mistaken.

Lice are insects.
There are many fascinating arachnids out there though...
Solifugids (sometimes known as camel spiders or sun scorpions even though they are not spiders or scorpions) are really cool, high strung, and eat like they're never going to get fed again.
My personal favorite are amblypigids though, also known as tailless whipscorpions, or sometimes incorrectly as "cave spiders" even though they're not spiders at all. These are sometimes on Fear Factor, and the contestants have to eat them.

I think he meant mites. Lice are insects, but mites are small "tick/lice looking things", and are arachnids too Yeah, I've wanted an amblypigid for years, but I can never seem to find them.

Theres actually a species of amblypigid that is native to Texas. It only gets to about 3/4 of an inch long, and is very difficult to find, but they're out in your area.

Yeah, there's probably more here than in the bentley subglacial trench I'm moving again in less than 3 weeks though, so my window of opportunity is limited as its still fairly chilly out, but if it warms up I'll keep my eyes peeled! I plan on doing some nocturnal herping if its warm this weekend.

Cool, I just keep learning and learning on this website!!
I always thought that only spiders were arachnids. (Well, my arachnophobia is justified though: I'm pretty creeped out by all those things listed!!)
I'll stick to snakes!
