Emperor Scorpion

Hello all....I was doing some research on these guys and I was thinking of getting two soon. I read up on all the basics except one thing...how often do you have to clean their tank and when you do how do you handle them so they dont get scared and sting you? Also how easy are they to care for as pets?

They are very easy to care for as long as you set the enclosure up properly. I clean my tank maybe once a year. They are fairly low maintanance. As far as handling, I always just scoop them up in a delicup if I have to move them. They are fairly docile and slow moving so they are easily managed.
I done a caresheet on them that you may want to check out here

Thank you for responding, that care sheet was great. The only problem is I cant keep them at home, my mom is scared of them and currently she is living with me, but she loves my Uromastyx (go figure). So I am going to keep them by my Fiance's house, He is so excited. So it's a good thing that they dont need too much attention. I'm there everyday anyway so if they did it wouldnt be a problem.

Glad that was of use to you. I see Emperors in the wrong type of enclosure all the time so I made that caresheet in hopes that some will read that when they buy their Emperors. So much of the time they are kept on sand in a very dry environment like you would a desert scorpion. These are from the Rain Forests of West/Central Africa so humid conditions are needed in order for them to be healthy.
If you have any more questions feel free to ask. Keep us posted if you get one.
