tarantula therapyy

We went to the reptile expo in our area (Baselland, Switzerland) today... and I finally made a HUGE breakthrough in my arachnophobia therapy.
I let a woman put a huge tarantula on the back of my hand (TWICE!!! -- the first time Martin didn't have the camera with him)

and

I can't blame the woman for keeping a tight grip on my arm; I'm sure plenty of people have flung their hands away at the first sign of movement. I was staying VERY VERY still.

It was a very beautiful and gentle spider. But I don't think I'm ready to go out and get one or pick up any around the house.
Thanks for looking!

Re: tarantula therapyy

(BTW -- I know how to spell therapy -- the last "y" was a typo, but I couldn't go back and edit it.) Ooops.
Thanks everyone. Ken, you're right -- I HAVE come a long way!!! BrianS would be so proud of me, I think. -- His constant photo "therapy" posts really helped me along in my early days.
Last year at the expo, I saw some people having their photos taken with a tarantula, but I just couldn't bring myself to try it -- the thought just sent chills up and down my spine and generally freaked me out.
Today I thought: I can do that; it's a really beautiful T and I want to know what it feels like to touch it and have it on my hand. It just really didn't seem like a big deal -- and it wasn't.
I was able to stroke the "fur"? on the underbelly side first -- it was surprisingly soft!!
Overall, a really cool experience and I'm happy I got it on film, because I'm not sure I'd believe it myself!
