somethings wrong

My Brown Anole Beast nearly died I think. Well long story short He was on his plastic plant jumped landed on a piece of petrified wood hunched over onto his back and he looked pretty dead to me. Well I was very sad bcause he was my first reptile and u kind of have a special bond. Well I poked him then he started running. Well a day later he was dragging his legs. Whats wrong with him and I think that he cant catch the small crix so I try to get his attention with the crik and I try to drop it near him but it gets away. Well my question is what should I do about his leg issue. For the full story go to my intro and click on Hey Thanks

What kind of UV lighting do you use? What are the temps, etc....we need to know your entire set up before we can help.

Yes, my first question was going to be the same as Moshpitrockchick's.. are you using UV light? We need to rule out Metabolic Bone Disease.

Secondly, if he appears to be having trouble with his leg and this is affecting his feeding I would get him to a vet - he make have broken or knocked something as he landed, or depending on the UV you are using, his bones could be weak.

Also, are you supplementing the crix with a Ca/multivitamin dust?

Hind leg paralysis is usually a sign of Metabolic Bone Disease, or lack of Ca.

I dont know what kind of bulb it is but it is purple. THe temp is on the down side of 72 the humidity is 70ish and it never gets below 40. I give the crix that gel quencher with calcium and for food I give crix fish flakes that has protien. I dont use the dust bcause people say there is to much of something and it is dangerous so thats y I dont use it Well I hope that helps

Take a look at this caresheet.

If you don't know what type of bulb it is I doubt that it is UV, you will need a UV light asap. The dust can be dangerous if you buy the cheap stuff. Some of the cheaper dusts contain phosphorous which is easily found in toxic levels if supplemented which is why we buy phosphorous free dust.

Look on the end of the flourescent tube, there should be a name. If its purple it is most likely either a grow light for plants or a color enhancing bulb intended for tropical fish.
Neither one is what your anole needs.

Hopefully the caresheet helps a little. Its pretty basic, but it gives you a rundown of everything you should need for an anole. I agree with the others. It sounds like he had very weak bones, and then injured himself when he landed on the rock. Its an unfortunate, but possible situation that he's broken his back.

another problem is he hasnt eaten I try to feed him crix by putting them in his mouth. I get the cric in there then he sits there then he either moves his head fast and throws it or it just drops out of his mouth
