been a long time...
yes, it's been a while since I last owned a herp of some form or another... yet they seem to track me down.
my bf was at work and he saw this little tiny lizard. He caught it for me thinking i'd think it was cute... so to make a short story shorter, i now have an anole... so now what to do with it... its brown... looks just like the green anole, but I dunno if there is a diff... he's brown/tan with like 2 darker stripes down his back... |

lol, welcome back Dorothy
![]() If it looks like a green, chances are that's what it is. They have the ability to turn brown. Either way, the care of brown anoles is the same as greens. Here's a simple caresheet on anoles: http://herpcenter.com/showthread.php?t=2739 Unlike your leo, the anole most likely will never accept canned crickets, you'll need to use live. You also need a vitamin and calcium supplement. Also unlike your leo, you need a UVB light. I'd get a Reptisun 5.0 or 7.0, or an Iguanasun, they're the same light. Be sure your screen lid has wire that's at least 1/8th inch (3-4 mm) between wires.

Welcome back. What a little cutie you have there,. but did you take him from the wild? - i have a bit of a thing about just picking up a wild animal and plonking it into captivity. But, off my high horse!!, he's there now and hope he has a nice life with you.

lol, I started typing this last night...and fell asleep
![]() Ok, that one's a brown anole. The substrate you've got him on now will do fine, he can't swallow any. Be sure he has plenty of places to hide and climb. He won't utilize hides as much as a leo, he'll just hide in branches. He's more for looking at rather than holding. And don't worry Rachel, very few wild anoles in Canada ![]()
