anoles

alright, im finally decided, with 100% certainty, that my next herp will be a green anole

heres what I have so far...
a 20"hx20"lx10"w tank with a screen top
lots of good climbing branches just waiting to be sterilized
i punched holes in some plastic margerine tubs so that the branch goes through them to hide in
im going to get some bulbs, domes, thermometers, humidity guages, and plastic plants
anything im missing?

OK sounds great now all you are missin is the anoles . And how many are you gettin ? I used to breed them and they love the company of others. And I think that a ground up calcium suppliment would be all right as long as it isn't very much , tums has that flavoring stuff in it so it probably isn't best to use it . But you could use a non flavored kind of suppliment I suppose . Anyway good luck anoles were my very first kind of herp and they were a blast .

Make sure the lid is secure and buy a plant mister, anoles don't drink from a bowl, they like to lap dew off of leaves. They do require uvb lighting as well. I've had anoles for years, they are marvelous hunters and will leap across the cage to get a cricket. The only problem with them is that they are hard to handle, they are extremely fast.

ribbit2,
im only getting one (for now)
that tank should be plenty big enough, right
and if I left crix in there I heard some where that if you leave cricket food in there than they would rather nibble at that than the anole
or isnt there some kind of bowl that is slippery, so they cant climb out of it?

you could always consider getting some long tailed grass lizards to go with them. there really cool and are usually good tank mates

Long-tailed grass lizards (Takydromus sexlineatus)are pretty compatable with anoles, although with their tails included, they do get over a foot long. Check out my caresheet, its #10, pretty close to the bottom.

furryscaly,
what does it mean when when it says pure calcium suppliment, nothing added, does that mean dusting the food items in pure calcium powder?
