Hi Anole fans!
This is kinda stupid but it's something I want to know.... Do you pronounce Anole like it rhymes with hole or with the eeee sound on the end? Sorry for the dumb question but thanks for helping  |

I say hole, although I've heard it pronounced both ways. As with many things it depends on where you are standing at the time. Kinda like here in jersey it's a soda and out west it's a pop.

I was told by someone at a museum that it's pronounced "anolee", but I've always said "anole" (rhymes with hole). I have no idea which is actually correct.

Wow you guys are great! Until a few weeks ago, I had always heard it pronounced with the eeee, go figure....I have been wrong for decades

I've pronounced it like it rhymes with hole, but i've heard it both ways...the people at the petshop near me just have them labeled as 'green feeder lizards' i dont think they even know what they are called! It just sounds funny to me to say anolee instead of anole.
