Anoles not eating........

i have three lovely, and really quite active little anoles. i'm a bit worried though. i can see ribs on them. is that normal or should they be a bit fatter?? i used to feed them the "large" crickets from the petstore (about 3/4" to 1"). then one of my geckos apparently choked on a large cricket, and being larger than the anoles, this scared me into buying the smaller 1/2" to 1/4" crickets for the anoles instead. but they wont' eat them!!! i've been doing that for about a month or so now and they hardly eat any, i'm a bit worried about them. are the 3/4" to 1" really just too big for anoles (i mean, these crickets are the size if not bigger than the anoles heads...), or should I go back to using those? they seem to like to hunt these larger crickets down better, even if they have to gum them down for a while before swallowing.......

any advice?? any other food suggestions I could suppliment with?

i tried feeding some mealworms too, just to see if they'd eat them. lets just say, the worms had enough time to eventually wiggle off the plate, thats how well they went over iwth the anoles..............

The anole I had beat the larger crickets to a pulp against the side of the cage before eating them, but I only got those when I couldn't get the smaller ones. Yes...you should feed them smaller for several reasons. One you have already found with the gecko. Another reason is the harder exoskeleton on the larger ones can cause impaction. Their ribs should definitely not be showing. I also went and caught wild crickets, baby grasshoppers and leaf hoppers...which, unless you live in the subtropics, will be hard to find this time of year. Get the smallest ones you can that they will eat and go with that.
