How many do you go through a month? I order online and have them shipped to me. 25% the cost of a petstore. You just need to set up a big tub for them and order them a little on the smaller size. I have two sizes on hand all the time. I go through 500 small and 500 large a month.

what you are missing in your setup for them to lay, is a dish of moist dirt. They need that. And read up on gutloading your crickets. Scraps of fruits and veggies that would normally go down the disposal are great for crickets. Stuff like apple cores, potato peels and salad mix. I haven't ever bought any of that pre-made stuff. Just fruits and veggies. Add some cat or dog kibble for protien.

As for plants, head to your garden store and see what you like. Anything that is tropical is good. Pothos work great. Not all, but some plants with red leaves are toxic, so I just tell people to stay away from red leaves in general. Think green.

When you buy your plants, be sure to wash the roots and the leaves off very well, to get rid of fertilizer and insecticide.

Re: New

how many anoles do you have?! lol I go through about 100 per month.
I read the care sheet and will set that up for the crickets today. My husband just left to get the 55 gal aquarium (i'll move the crickets to the 10gal), soil and pothos. I can't wait! I know they'll love it. I also found a fake fruit tree that my step mom left here. I'm going to take the branches off of it and clean them & the leaves to put in their new home.
Thanks again for all the tips! You're all very helpful and friendly. I greatly appreciate all of this!
Oh! I also found a site lllreptile.com that has 250 crickets for 16.95 shipped! that's only $0.07/cricket. They have larger quantities available too. At petsmart they're $0.09/cricket.

Re: New

I have no anoles. But I do have 14 frogs and toads. Each guy eats about 5 crickets a piece. Thats 70 a feeding!

Also, think about the gas you will save by not running to the pet store all the time.
