about to shed?maybe i ahve anoles all over my house....outside and inside my house....brown ones green ones....lol some have what your talkin about i think its about to shed..
Welcome to the HCN!
Shedding is one possibility. Can you get pictures?
White stuff around the nostrils sounds like salt discharge, which is normal for anoles. Some female green anoles will have a white pattern down their back too, it could be that. I'm not really sure what yours looks like.
Could you also give a summary of the habitat you're keeping it in? Often enough an aspect of their required care is overlooked, so it makes it worth asking.
Hi.
ok, i have my lizard in a 10 gal aquarium, i do have a UV tube,(planing 2 get a new one soon a repti glow 10.0) and i have a infrared heat bulb for day and nite i have lots of fake plants for it to hide in. I mist like 2-3 times a day. i feed it crickets and small roaches dusted with calcium, which it eats, like 2 per day, it also drinks water good, (i filtered it with the Brita filter) there is no substrate, just glass, because i have herd so many problems with the lizards getting impacted, and the crickets hiding in it. the temps at nite are no lower than 70, and during the day between 80 and 90. please excuse the fuzzy pictures, although you can still see the white stuff.
Thanks for the posts! its appreciated
hmm it looks like the pic didn't work... just insert this link

That looks like a healthy female green anole to meMany lizards, such as iguanas and anoles, expel excess salt from their diet through their nostrils. In many (especially anoles, I've noticed), it can sometimes cake around the nostril when it dries. It should brush off if something touches it.
As for the white spots down the back (I assume those are the white spots you mentioned?), that's a perfectly normal pattern for a female green anole.
Your set-up sounds pretty good. Just make sure you're using a screen lid, and any UV light you use says that it's UVB specifically. Also make sure you replace the bulb every six months.
Also, if your temperatures are 90 throughout the enclosure, you may want to lower them a bit. 90 is ok for the immediate basking area, but it's a bit hot if the anole has nowhere to escape the heat should she decide to cool off.
As for substrate, you can use Bed-A-Beast, or a similar mulch-based substrate. There's less risk of impaction, especially if you get it moist and then pack it down. It will also make cleaning easier, the habitat will look better, and your anole may be more comfortable venturing to the floor. It will also help retain humidity. If you'd rather not use a particulate substrate, paper towels will probably work better than nothing because they can be changed quickly without the need for cleaners.
Hi.
